General Motors CEO won't attend ceremony

General Motors CEO Mary Barra won't be attending a ceremony to get a special award this year.

Barra was slated to be honored at the National Women's History Museum next week.

Backlash from families who lost loved ones due to the company's defective ignition switch likely lead to her decision to not attend the ceremony.

The automaker recalled nearly 2.6 million vehicles for the defective switch.

It's been linked to 32 deaths.
