Getting prepared for another round of storms
Storm season is upon us and another thunderstorm is expected to make its way in Michiana on Wednesday.
The first big thunderstorm of the season happened on Monday and left thousands of people without power following the storm. Since then, various crews have worked to remove fallen trees and downed power lines.
Ahead of the next round of storms, there are a couple things you can do to prepare.
When it comes to your home, you should make sure you have shingles properly attached on your roof in case of high winds.
“Look at your lawn furniture, items you may have in your yard that could become projectiles if we get those 50, 60, 70 mile an hour winds that come through,” said President of First Response Al Scott.
He added that ahead of storms is a good time to check gutters and make sure water flows properly away from your home.
“Make sure your house has good drainage, that the water is getting away from corners of your home, away from your foundation,” Scott added.
