GOSHEN, Ind. - After a special caucus in Goshen Thursday night, Gina Liechty was named temporary replacement for Mayor Jeremy Stutsman.
The party chose Liechty to carry out the current term through November.
Stutsman says the future is in good hands.
Stutsman stated, "Gina liechty is one of the most intelligent and thoughtful people I know. And I am just really really excited to see what she brings to Goshen. She's gonna bring pieces that I don't have."
Stutsman has endorsed Liechty to replace him as mayor and to run for a full term in November.
Liechty responded with, "It came as a total surprise that we lose certainly not what we had planned, but a wonderful honor and an opportunity that I just couldn't pass up. And so, I am stepping forward and I'm very excited about Goshen future and the role that I'll be able to play".
