Google confirms data center purchase in Michigan City

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- Google is expanding its data center presence in Indiana with confirmed plans to acquire the "Project Maize" site, where a vacant former factory in Michigan City currently lies.

A Google Data Center Public Affairs Manager confirmed Thursday that the company is acquiring the "Project Maize site", where a former Anco windshield wiper factory stands off of Royal Road.

In the statement, the company commits to "paying for 100 percent of the cost of power" for the data center as well as for the required infrastructure.
