Goshen Community Schools delays return to in-person classes for students in grades 7-12
GOSHEN, Ind.—Due to COVID-19, Goshen Community Schools has again delayed the return to in-person classes for students in grades 7-12.
Students in grades 7-12 will continue virtual classes through January 19, 2021.
District officials hope that even if COVID-19 cases spike after the holidays that waiting until mid-January to reassess will allow for secondary students to return to in-person classes.
Elkhart County is currently in red on the statewide county metrics map, which indicates a high level community spread of the virus.
District officials said that if the county does not return to orange on the metrics map by January 19, students in grades 7-12 may continue with virtual learning.
Students in grades K-6 will continue with in-school instruction after the holiday break.
Students in upper grades at Goshen Community Schools have been in all virtual classes since November 16.
