Goshen Police Chief announces retirement after 30 years of service
City of Goshen GOSHEN, Ind. -- The City of Goshen and the Goshen Police Department announced Tuesday that Chief José Miller will retire in June 2026.
Miller will continue to serve as chief until his retirement date, which follows more than 30 years of service in Goshen. Miller first joined the Goshen Police Department in 1995 as a patrol officer. His roles with the department have included SWAT commander, detective, assistant chief and the 22nd chief of police, a position he's held since 2018.
"Serving this department and this community has been the honor of a lifetime," said Chief Miller. "I believed in leading with integrity, standing firm on what’s right, and upholding the trust the badge represents. It was always about the good of the city."
"I am deeply grateful for the dedication, integrity, and calm, steady leadership Chief Miller has brought to this role," said Goshen Mayor Gina Leichty. "His decision to give the department more than seven months to transition into new leadership is a generous act that reflects his deep care for the organization, his colleagues, and the community he serves."
