Gov. Holcomb highlighting the future of Indiana's economy
GOSHEN, Ind - Right now, the Indiana Economic Development Foundation is working to bring a bright future to Goshen and help drive economic development in the city, and they have full support from Governor Eric Holcomb.
The governor chaired an event for the group Wednesday and took the opportunity to make some exciting announcements.
Holcomb wants to make the Hoosier state the new place to do business, and really bring the future of industry to the next level.
“In the area of developing our microelectronic ecosystem, this is about 32.9 million in this first round, it’s a five-year program, so this could be some of the biggest federal grants that the state of Indiana received and some of our universities to work on,” said Gov. Holcomb
The RV industry is of course, a huge driving force of the economy in Elkhart County and Michiana as a whole.
Matt Saltanovitz, the vice president of domestic business expansions for the Indiana economic development corporation is proud of the partnerships between the IEDC and local officials.
“Particularly here in the north central area here in Indiana we had a lot of success within the RV industry, that’s definitely been booming for quite a while, also we’ve seen a pretty large investment over in new Carlisle in St. Joseph County,” said Saltanovitz.
That investment is the 3.5-billion-dollar project-- that's bringing Samsung and General Motors electric vehicle battery plant to New Carlisle.
On top of that, Governor Holcomb believes Indiana is making great strides in technology all across the board.
“When you talk about microelectronic, or hyper sonics, these areas that we are leaning into, semiconductors, EV technology and the whole transition and the future of mobility, you have to be able to operate at a speed of business and nimble and what Indiana has proven in the Midwest is we pop off the map,” said Holcomb.
