Governor Pence announces low interest disaster loans

Indiana Governor Mike Pence announced on Friday that low interest disaster relief loans are now available for people affected by August flooding.

The Governor made those loans available for residents, businesses, and non-profit organizations in five Indiana counties.

Anyone with flood damage in St. Joseph, LaPorte, Elkhart, Starke and Marshall Counties can apply for the loans.

The disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners. The money can be used to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners can use up to $40,000 for damaged or stolen personal property.

Applicants can also call the toll-free FEMA helpline at 800-621-3362.

The deadline to file for physical property damage is November 1, 2017. The deadline for economic loss applications is June 1, 2017.
