Grand jury indicts former Elkhart County Sheriff's Department process servers
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Following two days of investigation, a grand jury indicted three former process servers who were civilian employees of the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department for allegedly being paid for work they did not perform.
Susan G. Graves, Mary E. Letherman, and Steven R. Mock are each charged with one count of theft in an amount greater than $750.
In September 2017, Sheriff Brad Rogers asked the Indiana State Police to investigate claims that Graves, Letherman and Mock were paid for 2,500 hours of work between 2014 and 2017, which they did not perform.
The department estimates those unearned hours cost it $45,000, reports said.
After accepting the grand jury's decision, the Elkhart Circuit Court issued arrest warrants for Graves, Letherman and Mock.
