Grape farmers realizing impact of drought on harvest

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- Grape farmers are now realizing the devastation caused by this year's unusual weather.

It is harvest time in Southwest Michigan.

Spring frost destroyed nearly the entire crop of juice grapes.

Then the farmers had to deal with the drought.

Some farmers may qualify for low interest loans.

But the U.S. Agricultural Department will not make a disaster declaration until after harvest.
