Driver allegedly fleeing from police injured in 3 car crash

The driver of a vehicle fleeing from Mishawaka Police was injured in a crash at the intersection of Cleveland and Grape roads Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The crash happened around 1:45 p.m.

A Mishawaka Police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a gold vehicle traveling northbound on Grape Road. The officer believed the woman driving had an active warrant, according to the St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team.

The vehicle weaved through stopped traffic and drove through the intersection at Cleveland Road.

The gold vehicle struck a black Toyota SUV, which then struck a red Mazda, police said.

The drivers of the Toyota and Mazda had minor injuries and refused treatment.

Police said the driver of the gold vehicle was not wearing her seat belt and suffered head injuries in the crash. She was transported to the hospital.
