Great Pumpkin Tree arrives in Wakarusa

WAKARUSA, Ind. -- The residents of Wakarusa are looking forward to the arrival of the Great Pumpkin Tree.

In keeping with the tradition of a Christmas tree located in the town square at the holidays, the Town of Wakarusa will feature a 12-foot by 17-foot tree made of more than 200 pumpkins.

The total weight of the bright orange globes will be more than two tons.

The Great Pumpkin Tree arrived on Wednesday and was placed right in the middle of the street at the town square (intersection of Elkhart & Waterford Streets).

The final pumpkin will be placed in a tree topping ceremony with Wakarusa Elementary First Graders on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 1:30 p.m.

The public is invited to experience the town and enjoy the spectacle.

The fall fun culminates at the annual Halloween Party on Oct. 27, which features a hayride, cakewalk, and a costume contest.
