Green brothers charged with Auto Theft, Robbery, Battery

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Documents from the St. Joseph County Superior Court reveal brothers Amontrea and Christopher Green are both facing several charges that stem from a reported auto theft on Aug. 7.
Amontrea is charged with Auto Theft-Theft of entire motor vehicle. (Aiding, Inducing, or Causing an Offense), a Level 6 Felony, and Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury, a Misdemeanor.
Christopher is charged with Robbery-Taking property from another by use of or threatening use of force, a Level 5 Felony, Auto Theft-Theft of entire motor vehicle, a Level 6 Felony, and Battery Resulting in Bodily Injury, a Misdemeanor.
Amontrea had his first hearing Tuesday and is due back in court Sept. 30. Christopher's first hearing is Sept. 3.
The South Bend Police Department reports officers responded to a residence in the 1200 block of E. Madison Street for a reported auto theft. Officers arrived and spoke with the victim, who officers observed to have facial injuries.
The victim told police he had went to hang out and drink with a friend when the Green brothers came inside the home and began yelling at him and his friend.
The victim stated he attempted to leave, but Christopher followed him and struck him from behind, causing him to fall to the ground. The victim said he then went to his car to sleep before driving home.
While he was sleeping, the victim said Christopher came to the car window to wake him up.
The report states that's when Christopher began threatening the victim, allegedly saying, "Get the f*** out of here before I kill you. I'mma pop you."
The victim then exited the car before Christopher got in and drove away in it. The victim added that Christopher must've gotten his keys during the earlier altercation.
Christopher later returned with the car. The victim told police he then found the Green brothers hiding in the bushes at the side of the house. The victim confronted the two and asked for his keys back.
The report states that's when the brothers began to hit the victim repeatedly before both got into the victim's car and drove away.
Officers arrived and found the two brothers inside the friend's house. Both were arrested and interviewed separately after being read their Miranda Rights.
Christopher allegedly admitted to having an altercation with the victim and stealing his car. He was also able to show authorities where the car keys and care were.
Amontrea told officers that Christopher had struck the victim and taken the vehicle. He then later admitted to hitting the victim twice and leaving in the vehicle with Christopher.
Both were taken to the St. Joseph County Jail without further incident.
