NILES, Mich. -- Tons of people went out and protested against ICE in front of Representative Wahlberg's office on Monday.
The protesters voiced the need to redirect funding towards essential services like healthcare and infrastructure instead of ICE.
The group urges community members to participate in protests, engage with city commissions, lobby for legislative changes to abolish ICE and the need for stronger actions to stop ICE violence and imprison those responsible.
Gerik Maverick, protester, stated, "Everyone can do something. So, whether you can come out here in the middle of a day and do it on a Monday morning with us, or if you go to your City Commission, there are things that your cities can do to protect their citizens from ICE, and I implore everyone go to your local meetings, set out you know some of those things are going to be posting some of those ideas on our campaign page, on some of these other pages, showing these are things you could be asking your city commissioners for, your state legislators for and then obviously the big guys over here."
