Gusty winds signal big changes in the weather pattern

Nearly 1000 people were without power Saturday night as very strong winds blew through Michiana knocking down limbs and power lines.
The strong winds signaled a major shift in the pattern. Instead of southwest winds bringing warm temperatures to the area, we are now seeing a northwest wind ushering in cold air and lake effect snow.
It will still be breezy Sunday, but not nearly as bad as what we saw late Saturday night.
