MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- People looking to become first-time homeowners in Michiana will soon have a new resource to help them.
Habitat for Humanity has announced a new homeownership training center. Renovations are marked to begin on an 11,000-square-foot former medical building in Mishawaka.
This building will be turned into a multi-purpose facility dedicated to educating and providing essential resources to first-time home buyers. Habitat for Humanity already provides many of the same services, but now they will all be under one roof.
“We’re also going to have a little childcare area, because a lot of parents can’t come to meetings unless they have a plan for their children," stated Jim Williams, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity, "And so, this is going to also help us solve that.”
The new facility, located off East McKinley Avenue, is expected to serve approximately 1,000 community members annually.
