Harlen Praul receives 65-year sentence for killing girlfriend

South Bend, Ind. -- A South Bend homeless man is headed to prison for killing his girlfriend.

A judge sentenced Harlan Praul to 65-years behind bars, the maximum sentence.He pleaded guilty to the July murder of Christine Freeman. Police found Freeman badly beaten on Haney Avenue. She died a few days later.

On Monday, Praul also received an 18-month sentence for threatening an employee at the St. Joseph County Jail.
