Head Coach Marcus Freeman lands 4-year extension
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame Football Head Coach Marcus Freeman has agreed to a long-term extension that will make him among the highest- paid coaches in the country.
It is believed to be a four-year extension that secures him six more years in south bend, according to source that to spoke to ESPN. Freeman had two years remaining on his current deal.
"I am grateful for the support of the Board of Trustees, led by John Veihmeyer, President Fr. Bob Dowd, C.S.C., and Director of Athletics Pete Bevacqua," Freeman said in a prepared statement.
In his third season with Notre Dame, led to the #7 Irish to an 11-1 record and a first round College Football Playoff game against #10 Indiana at home on Friday. Freeman rallied the Fighting Irish to 10 straight wins after following their home loss Northern Illinois earlier in the season and under Freeman the Fighting Irish hold 30-9 record with the program.
