High school senior shot and killed a week ago, no arrests made

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - It was a week ago Sunday that Chris Simril, 18, of South Bend was shot in killed at Walkerfiled Park on the city's west side.

Simril was shot at least four times to the head according to his family.

A week has passed and investigators still haven't named a suspect, no arrests have been made.

Chris' mom Renee spent the weekend in St. Louis working on funeral arrangements. Simril, and his family are originally from St. Louis.

The Washington High School Senior was remembered this week by his friends as a good students, outstanding athlete and a good friend.

Chris' family said he had a 4.0, he was on the track team, member of the band and previously played football.

He leaves behind a younger sister, just 11-years-old.

Chris' funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, but a time and place is still pending.

Simril will be buried at Laurel Hills Cemetery in St. Louis.
