Hit and run claims the life of one in Benton Harbor

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. – The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety is looking for the suspect in a fatal hit and run that took place on Friday night.

At 11:51 p.m., officers responded to the area of Pipestone and Milton Streets to investigate a report of a hit and run crash.

Officers arrived to the scene to find a man lying unconscious in the 1000 block of Pipestone Street.

The victim, identified as Gary Elsner, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Elsner was hit by a black SUV with an unknown make and model.
