Hit and run driver located, investigation continues

The Berrien County Sheriff's Department says it has located the woman who allegedly struck a 16-year-old girl with her car late Tuesday in Niles.

Deputies say a 16-year-old girl who was walking to her home was struck by a vehicle near 1950 S. 13th Street around 11:30 p.m.

The girl suffered injuries to her head, arms and wrists. She was taken to the hospital, treated and released.

The driver of the vehicle stopped and began to help the victim, but then drove away.

The sheriff's department says a 24-year-old Niles resident has been identified as the driver.

A report has been handed over to the Berrien County Prosecutor for review.
