Holiday shoppers try to beat snow

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- ABC57 is tracking eight inches of snow headed our way. And that snow combined with the holiday has tons of people hitting the stores before the storm.

People like Jane Kiley, with the goal of getting their holiday shopping done before the snows sets in.

“I’m just doing my last minute grocery shopping getting ready for Thursday.”

With just two days before Thanksgiving, stores across Michiana are starting to feel the holiday rush.

Especially now, with so many shoppers hurrying in before Tuesday night’s snowfall.

Robert Hagglund said he’s stocking up.

“We don’t want to have to make any trips to the store during the storm or after.”

The weather is causing him and others to get up and get out early.

“The storm and the grocery shop madness, that’s why I’m here a little bit early,” said Kiley.

As more and more people head into stores, shoppers say checkout lines are already getting longer.

Snowy weather is expected through the next couple of days.
