Holy Cross fundraiser will feed 1,500 homeless this Thanksgiving
NOTRE DAME – Rev. David Tyson of Holy Cross College proposed a Presidential Challenge to provide 250 meals for the Center for the Homeless in South Bend. The Saints far exceeded that goal, making it possible to provide 1,500.
Rev. Tyson asked the college community to make a gift of $2 to provide a Thanksgiving meal for a homeless person.
For each dollar raised, the college would match it dollar for dollar.
When all was said and done, the community raised $1,500 which was matched by Holy Cross.
On Friday, a check for $3,000 was present to the Center for the Homeless.
“What a great way for the Holy Cross College community to end a challenging semester – providing 1500 Thanksgiving dinners at the Center for the Homeless. Thanks for being an instrument of hope to the most-needy,” said Rev. Tyson, C.S.C.
