The county is seeing higher rates of COVID, Flu and RSV cases, which is leading to an increase in hospitalizations and medical visits.
The CDC reported an estimated 9 million flu cases and 4 million flu related medical visits at this point last year.
Right now, the CDC says Indiana has a ‘very high’ flu activity rate, while Michigan’s flu activity is listed as ‘low’.
When it comes to RSV, cases are twice as high among people of all ages compared to where they were this time last year.
CNN says this is causing many hospitals to be the fullest they’ve been throughout the pandemic, with about 80% of beds occupied right now.
A big reason cases are believed to be surging in children is because of the way we are all getting back to socializing how we did before the pandemic.
While masking up may feel like a thing of the past, it could prove to be helpful in slowing the spread and keeping you safer this cold and flu season.
