House Republican leaders are expected discuss a deal to keep student loan interest rates from doubling.
On July 1, interest rates on federally subsidized student loans are set to jump from about 3 percent to almost 7 percent.
Lawmakers from both parties want to keep the rate from rising, but they disagree on how to offset the $6 billion in losses to the federal treasury.
