ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind.—The Humane Society of St. Joseph County (HSSJC) is hosting an Adopt-A-Thon through the month of December to support an increase in pet adoptions during the holiday season.
This is the first time the HHSJC is running an Adopt-A-Thon.
Until December 31, all dogs one year and older will be adoptable for $50 and all cats one year and older will be adoptable for $10.
Interested adopters must submit an application and get it approved in order to adopt a pet.
Every business day in December, the organization will also feature one pet whose adoption fee will be completely waived. Check out the HSSJC’s Facebook page daily to see whose adoption fee will be waived.
Kitten and puppy adoption fees remain the same.
According to the organization, the have had amazing results and are "running out of dogs."
However, the HSSJC still has over 100 cats looking a home.
“Adopting one pet from the humane society actually helps out 2 pets. So when you’re adopting a sheltered pet you’re opening up that cage for a new pet to come in. Our community has definitely stepped up this holiday season to help us give these pets home for the holidays," said Genni Carlson, HSSJC's Executive Director.
The HSSJC will be closed on Monday, December 31 and Tuesday, January 1.
