Hundreds come out for "Winter Walk"

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The beautiful weather wasn't the only excuse for folks in Michiana to get outside today.

More than 600 walkers turned out for the annual Winter Walk for St. Margaret's House. It's one of the largest turnouts in the event's 13-year history.

Money raised will go to those at St. Margaret's, which helps women and children in need across the community.

Walkers say they just wanted to show support for something they believe in.

"It's a great way to show solidarity to the women and children," says participant Denise Berscheit, "this is our way of saying 'we walk with you.'"

Those who took part got some great exercise. The walk consisted of a one-mile jaunt downtown.
