Hundreds gather to remember victims of the stage collapse

Hundreds gathered on Monday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds to remember the victims.

On Saturday, five people died in the stage collapse and more than four dozen were injured.  State flags are flying at half-staff.

Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman led the prayer service as children carried flowers on stage.  Governor Mitch Daniels choked up talking about the people who rushed to the stage to help!

"Indiana is a special place.  It's not everywhere we would've seen that response and that  reaction.  I cannot tell you how proud I am," said Daniels.

Governor Mitch Daniels wasn't the only politican to comment on Saturday's tragic events.

Today, Congressman Joe Donnelly released the following statement regarding the tragic accident at the Indiana State Fair last night:

"My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families of last night's horrific accident at the Indiana State Fair.  My family and I will continue to pray for the Hoosiers who were killed or injured, their families, and all first responders who saved lives following this tragedy."

Senator Dan Coats also issued a statement:

“Marsha and I were shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic accident at the Indiana State Fair. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones as well as the many Hoosiers and first responders who rushed in to help others.”
