Hundreds of pounds of THC-infused candy seized after Indiana Toll Road traffic stop

LAPORTE COUNTY, Ind.—A New Jersey man was arrested after a traffic stop on the Indiana Toll Road resulted in the seizure of hundreds of pounds of THC-infused candies, according to the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office.

On October 5, around 11:16 a.m., a deputy saw a vehicle traveling above the posted speed limit and following “too closely” to a semi-truck on the Indiana Toll Road near mile marker 47, according to reports.

The deputy watched the vehicle commit a traffic infraction and he initiated a traffic stop.

Another Deputy and K-9 Bosco arrived to assist and Bosco was deployed to perform a free-air sniff to which he gave a positive alert.

A search of the vehicle yielded several hundred pounds of THC-infused candy products, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the car, Angelo Padilla Jr., 35, of New Jersey, was arrested and taken to the LaPorte County Jail.

On October 7, Padilla was formally charged with dealing in a controlled Scheduled I substance, a level 2 felony. His bond was set at $15,000 cash.
