SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Eddy Street was closed off Tuesday as the City prepared for a free family-fun "Trick or Treat."
Hours before, popup tables and chairs set up outside Urban Outfitters and other local businesses to embrace the families and kids getting a head start on Halloween traditions.
Over one hundred mini pumpkins were picked off a truck and over 27,000 pieces of candy were waiting to be distributed.
The event started at 5:30 p.m. with over 100 people in attendance, filling Eddy Street as kids dressed as their favorite characters: Spiderman, Mario, Luigi and even fairy princesses.
For Eric Bolwin, the event's organizer, it's special to see each kid light up with excitement and joy.
"They just are just so excited are almost reading with excitement coming around the corner seeing the fire truck, the police cars, the candy, the music, the hype," said Bolwin. "They're just it's an excitement that you can only experience as a child."
Fun, was a main objective.
The event featured everything from music and dancing to pumpkin decorating.
"We've got a balloon twisters," began Bolwin. "We've got a D.J., we've got crafts and people pick their pumpkins. They put the paint on him that took it home."
For "Trick of Treat," Eddy Street Commons at Notre Dame was more than a shopping or dining experience--it was, put simply, a good time.
