Hundreds volunteer at the food bank
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- More than a hundred people from across Michiana took some time out of their day for volunteer day at the Food Bank of Northern Indiana.
Employees with McGladrey LLP and The Crossing School in South Bend helped sort the food from the pantry Thursday and packed some of the goods into bags for seniors, and young students.
Volunteer Day is not the only day of the year The Crossing students give back. Students come to the food bank to volunteer about twice a week.
"It means a lot that we can be a solution to the problem, that is a very good thing," said Leadership Coordinator Cedrick Mgwaba.
The different packs of food for students make sure that some kids who otherwise would not have enough to eat at school do not go hungry.
