I-94 opens up after 40 car pile-up

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- I-94 is back open Tuesday morning after a 40 car pile-up the night before.

That stretch of road between mile markers 52 and 56 opened up just before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The crashed happened just before 5:30 p.m. Monday. A dozen tow truck companies worked through the night to clear the roadway.

Six people were injured, but police said none of them are considered life threatening.

Officers said bad weather and poor visibility are to blame for the pile-up.

They add a semi lost control in the conditions and caused a chain reaction.
