I&M building new solar power plant near New Carlisle

A solar power plant is under construction near New Carlisle to become one of northern Indiana and southern Michigan’s solar facilities.

The plant is being built by Indiana Michigan Power just east of the small town in Saint Joseph County.

This is just one of the solar facilities that I&M plans to spread across those areas.

“This is one of four solar plants that we are building for Indiana Michigan Power. This site is 5 megawatt AC and is the largest one as part of our pilot program,” said Jennifer Watters, Generation Project Manager AEP.

The estimated cost of all the facilities is nearly 40 million dollars.

The solar power isn't expected to lower your bills too much but that could change down the road as more are added.
