I&M responds to over 16,700 power outages Saturday

Indiana Michigan Power responded to more than 16,700 customer power outages Saturday after wind gusts swept through the area.

The winds were projected to be over 60 miles per hour when the outages occurred.

Allen County and Delaware County experienced the highest number of customer power outages with over 2,000 outages in each area, according to I&M.

La Porte County, Berrien County, Grant County, Blackford County, Jay County, and Randolph County experienced 500-2,000 outages in each county.

St. Joseph County, Huntington County, Wells County, and Madison County experienced a range of 100-500 outages.

Crews were assessing the damage to restore service after the outages happened.
