Ice arrives for Hunter Ice Festival

The 9th annual Hunter Ice Festival returns to Niles.

Right now, the city is busy making some last minute preparations.

More than 120 blocks of ice arrived Monday morning and more is on the way.

Organizers said nearly 25 tons of ice will be carved into various sculptures.

"Each block is approximately 300 pounds.  This group of ice blocks that came today is uncarved blocks," said Lisa Croteau, Niles Downtown Development Authority. "Then, we have another guy who will be coming in today who has carved blocks."

If ice is not your thing, there is also a red hot chili crawl. They will also have a 5K run and a children's craft area.

The Hunter Ice Festival runs Friday through Sunday.
