Illinois man suffers serious injuries in Marshall County crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. – An Illinois man crashed into the rear end of a semi-truck that was stopped at a railroad crossing on U.S. 31 near 13th Road in Marshall County on Monday at around 3:38 p.m.

57-year-old Renee Wise of Wakarusa was stopped at the railroad crossing when 40-year-old Jaime Martinez of Summit Argo, Illinois collided into the semi-truck from behind while driving his Toyota Camry.

Police say that Martinez became distracted while driving, which lead to the crash.

Martinez suffered serious injuries from the crash and was flown to Memorial Hospital. Police believe his injuries are not life-threatening.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Texting while driving should be the same as driving under the influence, killing people, and saying, I DIDN'T SEE THEM. VERY HARD TO SEE ROAD STARING AT YOUR SMART PHONE IN YOUR LAP. put the phone down while driving.
