Important recalls could save lives nationwide
PLAINSBORO, N.J. – Drug Company Novo Nordisk is recalling a small number of NovoPen Echo® insulin cartridge holders.
Prior to the recall the company reported multiple complaints of cartridges cracking or breaking when exposed to certain chemicals such as cleaning products.
The NovoPen Echo® is a cartridge carrier used for insulin treatments for people that have diabetes.
Cracked or broken cartridges may result in insufficient insulin distribution, resulting in high blood sugar.
Replacement cartridges will be provided for the following batch numbers; EVG 1221, EVG1226, FVG7149, FVG7458, FVG8134 and FVG8135.
The defective batches were distributed between August 1, 2016 and June 22, 2017 to distributers, sales representatives, and replacement programs nationwide.
Novo Nordisk sent out a press release and is encouraging patients with affected devices to check their sugar levels more often as well as call the company during their regular hours to discuss replacement options.
