Inaugural Wave 100 boat race sets sail on Lake Michigan Aug. 13
LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The inaugural Wave 100 sailboat race, organized by Formula Wave Class and the Hobie Class Association of North America, will begin on August 13 in South Haven, Mich. and end in Michigan City on August 15.
Organizers say this event will bring together sailors from across the country for a challenging race on Lake Michigan.
Sailors will travel 60 miles over the course of three days.
Organizers say the first leg of the race will be from South Haven to St. Joseph, the second leg from St. Joseph to New Buffalo, and the final leg will be from New Buffalo to Michigan City.
50 competitor boats are expected by organizers.
The public is invited to observe the sailboats race down the coast during the day and finishing on the local beaches in the afternoons.
