Indiana Court of Appeals rules in favor of South Bend, demolition ordered for unfinished East Bank project

Indiana Court of Appeals

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Indiana Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the City of South Bend in a demolition order of an unfinished property owned by local developer Dave Matthews.

The property is located on the east bank.  ABC57 was told construction on the site ceased in 2017 and a 2022 inspection revealed numerous violations of local ordinances leading South Bend to pursue demolition.

Matthews provided the following statement to ABC57:

“We don’t agree with the Court’s analysis and are considering next steps.”

There's been no word so far on when the building could be knocked down.
