The Indiana Democratic Party is pushing to legalize marijuana in the Hoosier State.
Neighboring Michigan set a state record in October for total monthly marijuana sales, with more than $128 million worth sold, according to the executive director of Michigan’s Marijuana Regulatory Agency. Recreational marijuana is also legal in Illinois.
"A lot of our money, a lot of our jobs, a lot of the competition is going to be going out of the Hoosier State; when I think folks on both parties should be taking a look at keeping those jobs and keeping that revenue right here at home," Indiana Democratic Party chair Mike Schmuhl said in an interview with ABC57 NightTeam.
Several state lawmakers have said they plan to introduce legislation in the 2022 session, despite past bills failing to even reach a vote. More than half of states have legalized marijuana for medical use.
