FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana state lawmaker Jim Lucas is facing criticism and accusations of racism after he posted a picture of nooses on Facebook.
The post was in response to the guilty plea of rape suspect Marquise Dozier, who is a black man.
The picture was posted in a WISH-TV comments section and received a lot of reaction.
People say that Kelly’s post is insensitive and hateful given the history of lynching of African Americans in the United States.
In response to the backlash, Lucas defended himself, saying that he believes in public execution “no matter what their color.”
Lucas then went on to say that there was not any outcry when he made the same post for a white man accused of rape.
Lucas represents Indiana’s 69th district.
