Indiana man arrested after two pursuits with MSP
PAW PAW, Mich. – Michigan State Police were involved in two pursuits with a suspect with several warrants through Indiana on Wednesday.
MSP confirmed that the suspect was 44-year-old Anthony Blatz.
Blatz had warrants for two counts of larceny and violating probation in St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties in Indiana.
MSP pursued the suspect in Paw Paw until Blatz crashed his vehicle around 1:00 p.m. on M-40 Hwy.
Blatz and his wife fled by foot and were picked up several hours later by two Indiana residents.
According to MSP, around 4:00 p.m. troopers stopped a vehicle with Indiana plates, and it was the suspect and his wife.
As the driver stopped the car, Blatz got into the driver’s seat and fled north on M-40 Hwy.
Van Buren County troopers pursued the suspect, whose vehicle became immobilized near 102nd Avenue.
Blatz, his wife, and a third passenger was taken into custody by MSP.
No injuries were reported, and MSP is investigating the pursuits.
According to officials, Blatz was arrested for his outstanding warrants.
The South Haven Police Department, the Paw Paw Police Department, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in this investigation.
