Indiana Michigan Power crews on standby

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana Michigan Power has 535 employees and contractors on standby for any power outages because of the snow storm.

Although they have lots of people on standby, it could take crews a while to get to your location because of the poor road conditions.

The crews also have to work in teams because of the low temperatures, which could also increase your wait time for power restoration.

Before your power goes out, have a plan in place.

  • Find a friend or family member you can stay with if your power goes out.

  • Charge your cell phone so you won't be without a way to communicate with others.

  • Don’t use your gas stove or oven as a source of heat. It is a fire hazard.
