Indiana officials to address MERS virus at conference
MUNSTER, Ind. -- Indiana health officials are expected to hold a press conference Monday at 11 a.m. regarding the first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, or MERS, in the U.S..
Several officials are expected to speak on how the situation's being handled, including Governor Mike Pence.
An Indiana man became infected with the disease last week following a trip to Saudi Arabia where he worked as a healthcare provider.
Officials say that right now, the man appears to be improving during his treatment at a hospital in Munster.
The patient is in isolation.
Hospital staff that came into contact with the patient prior to his isolation have been temporarily sent home and are being examined as well.
