Indiana state park deer reduction hunt application deadline August 22nd

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources reminds hunters to apply for this year’s state park deer reduction hunts by the deadline of August 22nd.

To apply, hunters must visit the DNR’s website, as paper applications are not available.

According to officials, applicants must be Indiana residents and 18 years old by November 14, 2016.

Applicants must also possess at least one valid Indiana deer license.

Officials say two reduction efforts will take place on November 14th and November 28th to reduce the ecological damage that deer herds cause in state parks.

The DNR notes that some firearms have been made legal for deer hunting on private land, but are not allowed in state park deer reduction hunts.

Only firearms legal on private land will be allowed in the parks.
