BRISTOL, Ind. -- Today local enforcement, community leaders, and the families of the officers gathering at the Bristol State Police Post to pay tribute to the 49 men and women who have laid down their lives protecting their communities.
"And we got to remember that what we do is very dangerous, and every single day, you know, we could come in contact with what one of these fallen troopers have came in contact with, and it's a reminder for us not to get complacent. Make sure we keep our head in the game and make sure we're putting the best foot forward every single day," stated Trooper Morgan Robbins of the Indiana State Police.
Today's ceremony also marked a moment for the families and loved ones of the fallen to honor their memory, one last salute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
