Indiana State Police introduce K-9 “Zoia” to toll road post

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. — On December 5, Indiana State Trooper Brett Adair was joined by his new K-9 “Zoia” at his graduation ceremony for K-9 Training School.

Adair and Zoia trained together for 12 weeks. The skills that Zoia developed during training include tracking, building searches, obedience, handler protection, and drug recognition.

Zoia is a female Dutch Shepherd the Indiana State Police purchased from F.M. K9 located in Berrien Center, MI.

Zoia is from Poland, making her the first Dutch Shepherd to join the Indiana State Police.

Untrained K-9s go through a thorough training process administered by Master Trainers and State Troopers.

Adair has been with the Indiana State Police for four years. He lives in St. Joseph County and primarily patrols the Toll Road in La Porte, St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties.
