Indiana State Police investigating fatal semi crash on toll road near Shipshewana
LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- State Troopers are investigating a fatal semi-truck crash that happened on the I-80/90 Toll Road near Shipshewana. When Troopers arrived to the scene around midnight they found two semi-trucks, one parked on the shoulder and another crashed down in the north ditch.
Troopers found 45-year-old Shamshitdin Nuridinov unresponsive in the ditch.
They began CPR until LaGrange County EMS arrived.
The efforts to save Nuridinov's life were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by the LaGrange County Coroner.
Investigators believe Nuridinov's semi was pulled over on the side of the road because he ran out of fuel, when a second semi-truck being driven by 35-year-old Joseph Jett hit Nuridinov’s semi before crashing through a guard rail and running over Nuridinov.
Jett was not injured in the crash but was taken to Parkview hospital in LaGrange as a precaution.
Neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be a cause of the crash.
