SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- 'Click it or Ticket' is a nationwide initiative that Indiana State Troopers are participating in with one goal - keeping you safe! Now through Memorial Day, Indiana State Troopers are increasing their patrol on Hoosier roads. 'Click it or Ticket' comes on a holiday weekend known for long hours in the car.
This year, Triple A is estimating over 39 million drivers will brave the steep gas prices and get behind the wheel. In Indiana alone, 13 people died on Memorial Day weekend on Hoosier roads. Indiana State Police Sergeant Ted Bohner explains wearing a seatbelt is the first step you can take to protect yourself.
“We want people to do the smart thing, drive safe and drive sober, and in particular wear your seatbelt that is one of the easiest things you can do to save your life if you are involved in a crash,” says Sgt. Bohner.
