Indiana Toll Road reopens after semi-truck on fire halts traffic
JUNE 12 UPDATE: The Osolo Township Fire Department released the following statement on the fire:
"Yesterday afternoon Osolo Fire department was dispatched to the 95 mile marker on the Indiana toll road for a vehicle fire as further information came in it was noted that this vehicle had its brakes locked and was causing small grass fires from the 109 mile marker to the 95 mile marker where Indiana State Police were finally able to get him to stop.
"By this time multiple vehicles on the car carrier were involved Osolo Fire Department was dispatched and requested mutual aid from Bristol Fire Department and Cleveland Fire Department due to having to use foam operations to extinguish this fire as well as multiple tanker trucks for water.
"We would like to thank are surrounding mutual aid departments for their continuous help and support when needed, also due to the fire on the toll road Osolo fire and EMS dealt with an accident at the 93 mile marker."
ORIGIANL: ELKHART, Ind. -- A semi carrying vehicles caught fire on the Indiana Toll Road Tuesday afternoon near Mile Marker 95.
Roads were temporarily closed for roadway cleanup, with west and eastbound lanes being impacted.
As of 9:17 p.m. all lanes were reopened to traffic.
There is still no word at this point as to cause of the fire, but ABC57 will update as we work to confirm more.
